I have a SS Phantasm setup and I would love to upgrade the 340 stab to something more high performance without expensively upgrading the whole kit.

I have heard of G10 fiberglass options from KD Maui or Kparts. I think it would need some type of custom adapter for the SS Phantasm.

Has anyone gone down this rabbit hole? Any ideas?
Stringfellow?!?

Thanks!
Dave

I swapped an ONO Foils stab onto my Takuma setup and used it for a while with both 1210 and 1095 (for winging). I was trying the 13" tail, which I got on sale, but I can't recommend it, as it wasn't 'turny' enough and messed with my carves and jibes (like it was trying to straighten them out).

Not sure of the hole spacings - there doesn't seem to be a standard, only occasional cross-manufacturer coincidences.

Good luck!

You can fill in the holes in most any stab with epoxy and then drill new holes to the Phantasm pattern. I've done this, it isn't too hard. The hardest part is making a fixture to hold the stab securely while drilling. You'll almost certainly have to trim the new stab to get the right AOA.

In that case... I have a 13" ONO Foils stab for sale. 😁

stabilizers can really change your ride so its great if you can find some aftermarket (or even another brand) stab to optimize your ride.
I've been fortunate enough to work on stabilizers with kite companies and help them with prototypes. Interesting how some things work while other designs can make for a challenging ride.
I recently decided to chop an older stabilizer and it surprisingly worked great allowing for a better pump with my parawing setup.
You might want to hit up Carter at Five-0 watersports in Stevenson as he is doing demos with the Crisp stabilizers out of Australia.
I rode one last week and it really changed my experience.
The thing with trying off brand or aftermarket stabs, you need to get the angle right (AOA) for optimal performance. Some of us have meters to help determine the proper angle.
FYI I've got a couple of KD Maui Marlin stabilizers if you want to try them out.

Thanks for the replies!

Jim, my issue is with the Phantasm stab mount. It has a slight curve and isn't flat like most other company's interface. I was wondering about an adapter? It would basically be a slightly curved shim. I assume it would be easily 3D printed, but I have no experience there.
